Homeless Pledge

Townside Surgery  staff have taken the ‘Homeless Pledge’ which encourages our staff to lead the way in creating a cultural shift in how we view those without a permanent home.  The pledge asked that we examine the way we conduct our business and pledge to become Homeless-Friendly.  NHS surgeries and other healthcare providers are amongst the first to make that commitment but any public, voluntary or private organisation can join in.  If you are aware of anyone

Townside Surgery have signed up to an initiative, launched by Homeless Friendly and Bury Council, which will see rough sleepers, sofa-surfers and others around the town given a card advertising a phone number for BARDOC, which they can call 24 hours a day.

Homeless people often struggle to see a doctor because they have no permanent address and find it difficult to register at a practice.
